# 07621 :  Unbelievers prayers

Yesterday i went to ayurvedic treatment for infertility treatment. The doctor is an unbeliever, so while giving medicine, he prayed over it and offered me.

Im slightly worried now, what to do?

I reminded myself that the meat we eat are also prayed over and we buy and eat.

Would like to hear your views.

Dear Deepuc Varghese,

You remind me of a person who used to post a lot of questions without any explanations of his own.  It appears that he also had your last name.

On the subject of this thread: it appears that your consceince is bothering you about something.  Could you tell me, what is bothering you about that prayer?

Shalom Malekim!!!

dear jude,

Thanks for the reply. Im still trying to understand your answer to the question. Will reply if i understood. Thanks

Dear george,

I haven't read the God's word in full. After 6 years break I just started learning now. So i wanted to clear the grey issues and also Since it is infertility treatment, im more worried. Will not the doctor feel that because of his prayer im healed. and i get a feeling that i haven't trusted Jesus in faith that He will heal me. If it was just medicine i wouldnt find any difficult in taking it, but since he prayed over it, im worried to take it.

Dear Jude,

I think i was slow in understanding, now i got it. Mother Teresa saw Jesus in all human beings while serving them and not in being served or getting advices or teaching she saw Christ in human beings.

Coming to my case, i still didn't reach anywhere near to her what she has done. If i too could have seen like she saw, i would have been a different person in serving others.

Dear Deepuc Varghese,

Thank you for your explanation.  An Ayurvedic doctor may or may not be a believer.  God hears the prayers of the righteous and not the unrighteous (James 5:15-16 and 1 Peter 3:12).  Next time, if the doctor wants to pray, ask him about his faith and tell him whether you want his prayer or not.

Shalom Malekim!!!

Got ur point, but is it not arrogant if i say to him that i do not want his prayers. Also will not i  be a stumbling block how he sees a christian later onwards or if he wanted to believe.

Further i think God is gracious to hear some of the prayers of the unrighteous also.

Normally God Does not hear the prayers of sinners (Unbelievers)

Joh 9:31   But we know that God does not hear sinners; but if any one be God-fearing and do his will, him he hears.

But God hears the prayers of the Sinners for Salvation.

In Rare Cases God hears the prayers of Natural people and provide materials things.

God provides Natural Resources to all people.

Mat 5:45  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

There is special providence to God’s children.

James 4:

1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
 3 Ye ask, and receive notBECAUSE YE ASK AMISS, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. {lusts: or, pleasures}
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Don't just read verse 3 only but the preceding verses and the rest of the chapter for better understanding.

Dear Guide,

So are u suggesting that we shouldnt take medicines for any sickness in any form but trust in the Lord ?

The question u asked "Why do you need such a medication in which the doctor himself has no faith?" - I think anyone including christians pray and take or give medicine, that we believe with God's help medicine should work. The ayurvedic doctor also might have only prayed that the medicine should work in me.

Further iam not clear of one thing - when a Hindu or Muslim prays - Should we consider he is praying to an unknown god who will not hear his prayers or to the devil behind the idols.?

Dear Deepu,

My apologies if my posting have not conveyed exactly what I meant and resulted in your misunderstanding .

I didn't question you for visiting a doctor. I was trying to explain about your confusion or worry on the prayer made by a non-believer doctor. We don't know whether he was praying to an idol or not. Had you taken the medicine which the unbeliever doctor gave just as the meat that we eat which is "prayed over" as you mentioned without any worries, there was no problem. We eat the meat without any concern.

My point was that the doctor gave the medicine and he was not confident that the medicine would work. So he prayed to some power above him and the medicine. If it were a believer, we would have gladly received it. Most of us take medcines most of the time trusting in the Lord for the healing.

The other side of my question about our prayer and faith in the Lord. The Lord is our creator and would do wonders in our liives if we earnestly pray.

Now you may pray to our good Lord that the medicine that is administered work in you that your family life be blessed. Our Lord is able to fulfil you and your wife's desire for a child. I also join you in your prayers.

Please donn't be disappointed even if the Lord do not grant your desire. God will help you to fulfil His purpose in your family life for His glory.

[Deepu God is sovereign and hears prayers of all. We don't know whom he answers and/or answers not. We know that God granted the desire of Satan also to "touch Job". We are unable to understand it.]
