# 01118 :  Why I Love the Lord Jesus
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I felt moved to start this thread. My intent is for all willing hearts to contemplate the question, "Why I love Jesus?" and make a brief post.
Despite all difference of opinions, let all saved hearts unite in expressing love for Him who loved us from 'the prick of a manger straw on His back to the pointed end of a spear on His wounded side'.

I will start:
I love Him because, when he loved me, when He loved me enough to be born somewhere on the wayside in Bethlehem. Imagine that. The Son of God born on the roadside. I love you Lord.

Dear "moses2006"
Shall I rename this thread as a testimony in brief, Why I love my Lord Jesus Christ because of this verses belowEphesians 2
1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Your in Christ

Why we love the Lord Jesus

When we compare ourselves with the rest of the people on this world, who are we that the Living God should know us and have a covenant relationship with us? Yet God choose us and gave us the grace to know Him and respond to the love of God as seen on the cross.

I love the Lord, because I could sing David's Pslam, every day during the last five years, before I start work - (I did not miss even a single day).

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Dear All,

Last Sunday, Bro Bill McDonald spoke in our Church and his topic was 'Qualities/Greatness of God', one of which was Love.

He made a point that God loved us with EQUAL LOVE as he loved His Son Lord Jesus. I always thought God's love towards His Son is something different and that doesn't apply to us. But he showed John 17:23. That was amazing!!! Mr. McDonald also stated, "God cannot love us any more than He does now" and "The Lord Jesus cannot love us more than he did/does (that He was willing to give up His life for us)".

Then I remembered what Psalmist said, "LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!" (Psalms 144:3)

We should question ourselves if our love towards God can reach at least 10% of God's amazing love!

Dear John,

I don't think "AS" in John 17:23 means EQUAL. It probably means same KIND, or by same EXAMPLE, or same MANNER, etc. The Father loves us, as He sees us "in Christ Jesus" His Son (cp. Romans 8:39 with John 17:23).

Consider the following Scriptures:

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Mat 3:17)

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. (John 10:17).

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. (John 3:35).

For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. (John 5:20).

In Christ Jesus,
Moses LemuelRaj

PS: This is no way to undermine the love of God toward us. He loved us with "GREAT love" (Eph 2:4). We love him, because he first loved us. (1John 4:19).

Psalm : 34:1

"I will bless the Lord at all times and His
praises shall be continually in my mouth".

I love my Lord because He loved me First and because of His GREAT LOVE in which he loved me.

I love the Lord because He is True. No lie in Him.
He will never allow his faithfulness to fail.

..nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. (Psalms 89:33)

..a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. (Deuteronomy 32:4)

Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way (Psalms 25:8)

..God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; (Titus 1:2)

..impossible for God to lie. (Heb 6:18)

Dear brothers and sisters,

I hesitate to speak of my love for the Lord Jesus. It is so poor when I consider His love for me. I am like John in at least one respect, I am the disciple whom Jesus loved.

At the begining of the thread someone said that they loved Jesus because he first loved them. When I consider how he demonstrated His love, what more can I say?

Your brother in Christ,

Thank you moses2006 (Or may I call you Moses?).

How refreshing to see a change and beautiful responses from all! I thank the lord for giving you the wisdom to initiate such a topic.

I would not have known what Love IS, unless He has put the ability to know love into my heart. So the Lord is the initiator of it to begin with. Even to know to love the Lord, my Lord had to help.

We have (I have) boundless reasons to love Him.

But what has struck me in my heart for a long time is the that I was destined for ENDLESS LOSS. (Eternal damnation). I look upon my “self” and see how undeserving I am. And yet it pleased the Lord to take me as one of His … to enjoy all that He has in store for me for the ENDLESS FUTURE.

I love him because he is my Blessed Redeemer from my Endless Loss.

Let me quote Avis Christiansen.

Up Calvary’s mountain, one dreadful morn,
Walked Christ my Savior, weary and worn;
Facing for sinners death on the cross,
That He might save them from ENDLESS LOSS.
Blessed Redeemer! Precious Redeemer!
Seems I now see Him on Calvary’s tree;
Wounded and bleeding, for sinners pleading,
Blind and unheeding—dying for me!

“Father forgive them!” thus did He pray,
E’en while His lifeblood flowed fast away;
Praying for sinners while in such woe
No one but Jesus ever loved so.

O how I love Him, Saviour and Friend,
How can my praises ever find end!
Through years unnumbered on heaven’s shore,
My tongue shall praise Him forevermore.

Good topic 'moses'.

I love Jesus because, He loves me as if He's too crazy or mad for me - don't know how to describe it any better. I keep disobeying and running away from Him and He never got tired in chasing and putting me back to track. I could never experience love better from elsewhere. Is there anyone with the least of common sense would love somebody like me, who hit Him so badly ? Yes, there's one - its none, but My Lord. I have no other choice now, but to love Him.

God Bless, Sajan

Note: May I request those who post in this thread to express what / who Jesus is for them in their own words ? I think thats what 'moses' expected and we all love to hear rather than Scripture quotes. We all know, Scripture lists out thousands of reasons on why man should love God, but here, it will be more inspiring if you tell everyone, how YOU - the individual - look at it. 'moses', please correct, if I misunderstood it.

I love the Lord Jesus because of who He is- the Son of God; what He has done:
1 Timothy 1:15-“This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” – and I am the worst of them!” and displaying His incomprehensible love towards me, especially when I ponder on the fact, that while on the Cross, he saw, how I would sin against Him, and knew all my ungrateful work and attitude, He still loved me. Indeed Lord Jesus so wonderfully and amazing!
Indeed I thank the Lord for saving me from a place, where it was impossible for any to save me, and even save me, without any direct human instrumentalism, and giving me the chance to know and love Him! Hallelujah!

Sincerely in Christ,

Dear Aman,

It is nice to see atleast one sentence of your own in all these posts.

Please come up, please use your own words to express your ideas, instead of copy/paste technique, from somewhere else.

This thread is for expressing in their own way, why they love Lord Jesus.

Please tell us why do you love Lord Jesus, for further discussion on the subject, instead of copying lengthy paragraphs about love.

Hope to see your answer, why do you love Lord Jesus ?

Dear aman,
You are not being decent in not responding to the question put to you by bro John miller as to what you intend on this site, where all the participants believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. Your assumption that those who have come to repose their trust in Christ have a selfish motive is born out of your total ignorance. Also your thinking that God prohibits man in enjoying pleasures also is wrong. God has created man with five senses to enjoy, within legitimate boundaries laid down by him, for example eating good food, having good sleep, listening to good music etc. enjoying these we do not produce any bad odour.on the contrary there are sadhus who go to graveyards and eat dead mans meat and human waste. Is that what you expect man to live like? Are you able to see the difference in the teaching of Jesus and the beliefs that you hold, with the example of eating quoted above. then I have seen sadhus covering their mouths with masks while walking lest they kill any organisms while breathing in, but their brethren suck the blood of the poor and downtrodden by collecting huge percentage of interest on the money borrowed from them.aman means shanthi (peace).only Jesus can give that to you .Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you”. Jesus also said in John 12:48 “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day”. Hence believe in Jesus and have true aman from Jesus

I assume you are from a Hindu background. I have seen the kind of love you describe among Hindus. Worship of cruel and fearsome looking deities, who you know from your heart, has no feelings for you. Such worship has no "love" in it. Neither do you love the deity nor is there any scriptural/ physical evidence that deity loves you. You worship out of FEAR. Fear that if you do not worship, some evil will befall you. You also fear the ignorance that you have in understanding your deity fully. Then you call your worship "selfless"!! Don't you see that you "love" your deity for your own good?

Among Christians, the picture is completely different. We worship our Deity Jesus Christ, not out fear. We worship Him because He first loved us. Love is the banner that he holds over our heads. Under that banner of love, there is no room for the kind fear that you have towards your deities. He loved us freely and we respond by loving Him back. Unlike any earthly deities, Jesus, proved His love for us by dying and becoming a sacrifice for our sins.

I instruct you: Do not worship or love deities who do not love you nor will do anything for you. Do not worship deities who were created by human imagination in fear and ignorance.

Find a Bible somewhere and read it and see what real Deity Jesus, the Christ, did for you on that cross. Then respond to His love, if your heart is touched by God.

Just wanted to add the responses to Aman:

"Selfishness" - how can we define it ? I remember reading somewhere quoted by Mother Theresa... "Don't think I'm selfless, but I'm the most selfish. And 'I' wanted to be with my Lord Jesus forever and for that He wants me to bring everyone around me to Him and thats the inspiration for me to be in the state you see me today" (words are not exact, just my own from what I recollect from my memory, but I guess its something similar). So, from the above angle, can we say one should not be selfish ? Yes, everything is relative, so, let's not come into hasty conclusions.

Also, I believe whatever I receive from Jesus is a blessing - be it a financial gain or loss, an physical illness or loss of life of recognition at my work. Because, He gave me the wisdom to understand He's my most loving father, who wish to see only good for His children. So, if He gives anything of that sort, definitely that will be for a purpose. I need not have to question or turn away from Him for that.

God Bless, Sajan

Quote <Idol worship is to contemened and bible did so. But the basic intent in the devotee is right even though it is wrongly directed. >

Idol worship is wrong, despite the best intentions of the worshiper. The Bible reveals that, those who worship God, must do so, in spirit and in truth. There nothing of the 'spirit' nor 'truth' in an idol - even an idol of Jesus. So you cannot say that "basic intent of the devotee is right". It does not matter what the devotee intents, what matters is how well his worship matches the worship requirements set forth by GOD.

Quote <you love Jesus beacuse He love you in return. This is false love! You are simply extending your worldly behaviour to our great Lord also! How it is justified!>

I did not say that I love Jesus because He returns my love. I said, I love Him in return for loving me FIRST. Jesus loved me and in doing so gave His life for me. That is the reason, why I am obligated to love Him back. If Jesus, never loved me first, I would not even have known Him, let alone love Him. If Jesus has not loved me first, you and me would not be having this discussion. What I am trying to say is Jesus is that true Deity, who first loved us men and proved His love.

Now that I love Him, I will continue to love Him, because, I know His love continues for ever. Because He has a plan and a purpose for my life. Because He is coming back to receive me to Himself. Considering all that He did for me and all that He is going to do, I can say with Apostle Paul:

Rom 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Compared to the things that Paul mentions, how childishly silly and paltry are your claims of "loving God even if He is insulting us". Look at the list of things that a Christian is prepared to suffer for his Lord and Saviour: tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril and sword. History bears witness to the terrible things that Christians endured for loving their Lord Jesus. Genuine Christians living today is prepared to endure all this for their Lord.

And you think that we Christians are being "selfish"!!! Your thoughts betray spiritual ignorance. Your thoughts reveal that you are in satanic darkness. I pray that God would shine the light of the gospel in your heart.

Please wake up to the current causing you to spew this hot air - spiritual slavery of the devil.

Dear brethren,
Why I love Lord Jesus?
I was asking this question several years. And also the question do I love Jesus?
Why do I love Jesus? I don’t really know the answer; I can not point out to one reason because they are many which I can not count. Since the time I was born again I was thinking that I love Jesus because He saved me from eternal death and gave me eternal life. But when day by day was passing I realised that it is not only that reason I love Jesus but there are many. I sat down and started counting one by one but I am failed in it. Yes dear brothers and sisters I am failed in it.
Some time Lord asks me, do you love me Santhosh? My eyes are filled with tears, I have no words to tell Him any thing rather than this; Lord you know me better than me.
He loves me before I know what love is.

Your brother in Christ with love
