# 01214 :  What Is Sin?
What is sin?

Doing wicked things, being unfaithful and rebel is sin. (Genesis 39:9, Exodus 34:7,Exodus 34:9, Leviticus 6:2,3).

WE ARE SLAVES FOR WHICH WE OBEY.
Romans 6:16 Know ye not that to whomever ye yield yourselves as servants to obey, his servants ye become whom ye obey, whether of sin which leads unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

IF WE ARE SLAVES OF SIN, THE END IS SHAME AND DEATH.
Romans 6:21,23
21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

HOW CAN WE OUT OF SLAVES OF SIN?--- By obeying what you taught right.
Romans 6:17 You used to be slaves of sin. But thank God that with your whole heart you obeyed the teachings you were given!

WE MUST BE SLAVES OF GOD. IF SO, WHAT WE GET?----HOLINESS AND EVERLASTING LIFE.
Romans 6:22But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

GOD PUNISH SIN.
Detro 5:9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

CONFESS SIN.
Levit 5:5 " 'When anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned.

FAILING TO PRAY FOR SOMEBODY IS SIN.
1 Samuel 12:23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.

CONFESS YOUR SIN AND WORSHIP GOD ALMIGHTY.
1 samuel 15:25 Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the LORD."

WHAT KEEP YOU AWAY FROM SINNING?----Fear of God.

Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."

----------------------------------------------

This is few verses came to me. I like to hear from the readers.

WHO CAN FORGIVE SIN?
Mark 2:7 Why does this [a]Man talk like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins [[b]remove guilt, remit the penalty, and bestow righteousness instead] except God alone?

2 CHRONICLES 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

WE ALL ARE BORN OF SIN, WE WILL BE FORGIVEN.

1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

JESUS HAS THE AUTHORITY TO FORGIVE SIN.

lUKE 5:24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has the [[a]power of] authority and right on earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralyzed man, I say to you, arise, pick up your litter (stretcher), and go to your own house!

IF A BELIEVER SINNED AGAINST YOU AND HE ASKS FORGIVENESS, YOU CAN FORGIVE HIM.

John 20:22-23 And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

Luke 17:4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."

A BROTHER WHO SINS AGAINST YOU.

Matthew 18:15-18
15"If your brother sins against you,[a] go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'[b] 17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.18"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be[c]bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.

JEREMIAH 31:34
No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,"
declares the LORD.
"For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.

THANKS FOR LISTENING TO ME.
Sunila.

Confess your sins before baptism:
Matthew 3:6
Mark 1:5

Sin may cause sickness:
Anxiety--Psalms 38:18
Guilt----Psalms 32:5

Confess your sins to get healing from sickness:
James 5:16

Confession cleanses us from unrighteousness:
1 John 1:9

WHERE TO CONFESS:

Before men:
Matthew 10:32
Luke 12:8

In the presence of many witnesses:
1 Timothy 6:12

To one another:
James 5:16

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE CONFESS:

We will be saved from sins and get eternal life:
Romans 10:9-10

Will get liberty and freedom:
Galations 2:4
James 1:25
1 Peter 2:16
Galations 5:1 (It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.)

Galations 5:13 (You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature[a]; rather, serve one another in love.)

Will abide in Jesus Christ:
1 John 4:15

We have to win over sin. Otherwise we will be slaves of sin.
2 Peter 2:19b for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.

It is a fact that a person who has repented of his sins and claimed salvation does not mean that his whole character has been instantly transformed. An important process of change has been set in motion, and it will take time to complete his change.
Ephesians 5:26 (to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,).

The change will be completed by every day cleansing by the word of God.

So we have to say like Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14
(13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus).

Righteousness through FAITH, not from LAW:

Romans 3:21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.

Phillipians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

Abraham: Romans 4:13
Believers: Romans 10:4

Righteous could not be gained by Law:
Galations 2:21

But Law is not opposed to the promises of God:
Galations 3:21

Righteousness by Grace:
Romans 5:17,21
Romans 6:15

Slaves of righteousness:
Romans 6:15
-------------------------------------------------

The following are from the words of Pastor Derek Prince's teaching lettors.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

IF YOU ARE UNDER GRACE, YOU ARE NOT UNDER LAW. THEN SIN WILL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU. IF YOU SEEK TO ACHIEVE RIGHTEOUNESS BY KEEPING THE LAW, WE WILL NEVER ABLE TO ESCAPE SIN'S GRASP.

Romans 8:14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Do we live as sons of God by keeping a set of rules? NO. We live as sons of God by being led by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:14)

Galations 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

Once again, the message is clear. You become a son of God by being led by the Spirit. And if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. That means we must become completely dependent on the Holy Spirit. God's way to righteousness and holiness is not through struggling, but through yeilding-yeilding to the Holy Spirit. You need willpower to trust Holy Spirit. The Christion life is not a life of struggle, it is a life of yeilding to the Holy Spirit within us.

Continuation from Pastor Derek Price.
-------------------------------------------------

John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

John 15:4,5 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Jesus said, "I am the wine, you are the branches. If you will remain related to ME-joined to ME- you will bring forth much fruit".

Gardener is the one who does the pruning. Right now, God the Father (gardener)may be pruning you. But do not give up. Do not say, "How could this happen to me?" Simply yeild. Surrender to the gardener.

God the Father is the gardener, Jesus is the wine, And Holy Spirit is the life that flows through the wine and in to the branches. The same life that is in the trunk flows through the branches, and the life in the branches brongs forth the fruits. The Holy Spirit is the one who produces the fruit. It is not fruit of our best efforts. It is not the fruit of the religion. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Take some time today to thank God for His Holy Spirit.

HOW DO WE KNOW THAT GOD DWELLS IN US?.........

1John 4:12-16
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
